Celebrating Glenn and 20 Years of APG Workforce
On Thursday, 30 July, the APG Workforce team managed to achieve something that may be harder than it sounds: completely surprising Glenn.
What he believed was a casual Oran Park office lunch following Foodpro was actually a celebration of the APG Workforce 20 year anniversary, marking two decades since he and Dave founded the company.
Keeping the anniversary surprise under wraps
The planning began around a month earlier when Glenn casually mentioned the approaching milestone to Michelle. She acted as though she was not quite sure about the date, while behind the scenes, the team was already putting a plan together.
When it came to choosing a gift, the team asked Glenn's wife, Sam, what he might genuinely need. Her answer was immediate: a new laptop bag. According to Sam, he may have been carrying the same one since APG Workforce began, so an upgrade was well overdue.
Thankfully, the team also had someone on the inside. Sam helped present the lunch as a simple office catch up and arranged for their three sons to join the celebration. Meanwhile, the Oran Park team organised for Dave, Bill and Dhaval to travel up from Melbourne, despite them having seen Glenn only a couple of days earlier at Foodpro.
A close call before the celebration
The arrivals required some careful timing. With the Melbourne group cutting it close and Glenn expected around midday, Sam was asked to keep him distracted for just a little longer.
There was even a false alarm when everyone thought Glenn had arrived early. Dave, Bill and Dhaval quickly disappeared around the corner to avoid being spotted, only to discover that the surprise was still safe.
Thankfully, everyone was in place when Glenn arrived at Camden Valley Inn. What he expected to be a casual lunch became a celebration surrounded by family, colleagues and friends.
Reflecting on 20 years of APG Workforce
During the afternoon, Dave shared the story of how he and Glenn first met, while Glenn reflected on their journey and what APG Workforce has meant to him.
They spoke about the challenges of the early years, the long hours and the sacrifices required to keep the business moving forward. Tammy also recalled working with Glenn from a small cubicle in Campbelltown and how moving into their first small office felt like the moment they had finally made it.
From that cubicle to the national workforce management company APG Workforce is today, the afternoon was a reminder of how far the business has come and the determination behind its growth.
