Safety Smarts: Reinforcing Workplace Safety Through a Quick Quiz

We’re helping our workforce say yes with practical, engaging safety reminders that stick.

At APG, we believe that safety is everyone’s responsibility. Understanding the why behind our processes is just as important as knowing the what. That’s why our HSEQ team recently launched a short, interactive quiz for all active casuals. The goal was to test safety knowledge and boost engagement with our monthly health and safety updates.

Strengthening Safety Across Our Labour Hire Workforce

This initiative was designed to:

• Encourage our casual workforce to read and understand key safety communications
• Reinforce correct procedures through real-life workplace scenarios
• Promote consistency in safety practices across all sites

By combining education with a touch of friendly competition, we created an engaging way to keep safety top of mind.

Real Scenarios, Real Learning

The quiz featured multiple-choice questions based on situations that casuals might actually face on-site. For example:

• What should you do if you experience an incident or near miss?
• Why is it essential to follow site policies and procedures?
• What’s the correct way to notify if you can’t attend a rostered shift?
• How does good housekeeping contribute to a safer work environment?

Rather than focusing only on rules, the quiz aimed to deepen understanding of how and why safe practices protect everyone involved.

Recognising Engagement: Our Quiz Winner

To encourage participation, everyone who completed the quiz was entered into a draw to win a $250 gift card.
